If you’ve owned or leased a Mercedes vehicle between 2007 and 2017 then you may be entitled to compensation.
But what exactly is it Mercedes allegidly did?
Currently there is an investigation being completed into the fitting of a “cheat” device that reduced the emissions when the vehicle was being test.
Some of the effects of this are:
Incorrect fuel econemy
The amount of AdBlue that was being used when the vehicle was driven day to day was lower than used when tested. This would have resulted in higher fuel consumption.
Performance
The device would only take effect when being tested, so the figures advertised would have been based on when the device was working therefore the performance would be different.
Pollution
Without the correct amount of AdBlue being injected into the cars system the amount of Nitrous Oxide being released into the enviroment would have been higher.
Maintenance Costs
It is expected that due to the vehicles operating at different tolerances than those they were tested against customer may have suffered higher maintenance costs.
